‍The Global Co-Mission, Inc., a Florida nonprofit corporation recognized as tax-exempt under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code ("GCOM," "we," "us," or "our"), is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard personal information when you visit our website at www.gcom.world and its subdomains (the "Website"), make donations, sign up for newsletters, subscribe to our text or messaging programs, or otherwise interact with us online.

Information We Collect

We may collect the following types of information:

Personal information you voluntarily provide, such as your name, email address, mailing address, phone number, donation details, communication preferences, or other information you submit when you:

  • Sign up for newsletters, updates, or our text, WhatsApp, or social messaging programs

  • Make a donation

  • Register for or inquire about an event or campaign

  • Contact us via forms, email, phone, or messaging platforms

Consent records, including the date and time of your sign-up, your IP address, the web page or form you used, the specific consent language displayed to you, and the communication channels you selected. We retain these records to document your permissions and to comply with applicable communications laws.‍ ‍

Automatically collected information, such as IP address, browser type, device information, pages visited, referring pages, and time and date of access. This information is collected through cookies, web beacons, analytics tools such as Google Analytics, and advertising and analytics pixels, including the Meta Pixel and Google tags, which may collect browsing activity on our Website for measurement and audience-building purposes.‍

Payment information for donations, which is processed securely by third-party payment providers. We do not store full payment card details.

‍How We Use Your Information

‍We use collected information to:‍ ‍

  • Provide services and send newsletters, event invitations, campaign updates, and stories from the field

  • Process and acknowledge donations, including issuing tax receipts

  • Communicate with you about our programs, volunteer opportunities, and giving opportunities, through the channels you have consented to

  • Improve our Website and analyze usage trends

  • Measure the effectiveness of our outreach and reach people with similar interests

  • Comply with legal obligations, prevent fraud, and enforce our policies

Sharing Your Information

We do not sell personal information for money, and we do not rent or trade our email or mailing lists. We do share limited information with advertising platforms as described in the "Advertising and Social Media Platforms" section below. Some state privacy laws define that activity as a "share" or a "sale" even when no money changes hands. You may opt out of it at any time by contacting connect@gcom.world.

We may share your information with:‍ ‍

  • Service providers who help us operate, including customer relationship and email or SMS marketing platforms, donation and fundraising platforms, payment processors, website hosting and domain providers, and analytics providers. These providers are contractually obligated to protect your information and to use it only to provide services to us.

  • Legal authorities, where required by law, subpoena, or legal process, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of GCOM, our supporters, or others.

  • A successor entity, in the event of a merger, acquisition, or transfer of assets, with notice where feasible.

‍We honor donor privacy and will not disclose donor identities publicly without consent, except as required for IRS compliance or public disclosure rules applicable to 501(c)(3) organizations.

‍Mobile Information and Text Messaging

‍No mobile information will be sold or shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. All the above categories exclude text messaging originator opt-in data and consent; this information will not be shared with any third parties.

‍The Global Co-Mission, Inc. uses text messaging to send updates, stories from the field, and giving opportunities to individuals who have opted in. Message and data rates may apply. Message frequency varies. Reply STOP to any message to opt out. Reply HELP or contact us at connect@gcom.world or +1 (727) 404-3434 for assistance. Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.

‍Service providers who help us deliver messages, such as our messaging platform and telecommunications carriers, may process this data solely to transmit our messages on our behalf and are prohibited from using it for any other purpose.

‍Our text messaging program is available only to individuals 18 years of age or older who are the subscriber or customary user of the phone number provided.

Messaging on Third-Party Platforms (Including WhatsApp and Social Messaging)

Where you have opted in, we may send you updates, stories from the field, and giving opportunities through direct messaging on third-party platforms. These currently include WhatsApp, Facebook Messenger, and Instagram, all operated by Meta Platforms, Inc.; TikTok, operated by TikTok Inc.; X, operated by X Corp.; and LinkedIn, operated by LinkedIn Corporation. We use each platform's direct messaging features only where the platform makes them available for this purpose and only where you have consented to be contacted there.

We may add other messaging platforms in the future as our outreach grows. Where we do, we will obtain your consent for that platform before messaging you on it, and we will update this Policy to identify it. We will not move your contact information from one messaging platform to another without your consent.

Messages sent through these platforms are delivered by the platform operator, and your use of them is also governed by that operator's own terms and privacy policies. We do not control how those operators collect or process information within their own services.

Phone numbers and account identifiers used to deliver these messages are processed solely to deliver the messages you requested. They are not shared with advertising platforms and are not used to build advertising audiences.

You may opt out at any time by replying STOP or otherwise indicating that you wish to stop receiving messages, by blocking or unfollowing the account, by using any opt-out control the platform provides, or by emailing connect@gcom.world. We honor opt-out requests however they are phrased, not only when a specific keyword is used.

These messaging programs are available only to individuals 18 years of age or older.

Public interactions on our social media accounts — comments, replies, mentions, reviews, and posts on platforms such as YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, X, and LinkedIn — are not covered by this section, even where we also use direct messaging on the same platform. Those interactions are public or semi-public by nature and are governed by the policies of the platform on which they occur.

Advertising and Social Media Platforms

We advertise on social media, video, search, and professional networking platforms to share our work and reach people likely to be interested in it. These currently include Meta (Facebook and Instagram), Google (including YouTube and Google Search), TikTok, LinkedIn, and X. We may advertise on additional platforms in the future, and will update this Policy to identify them.

To do this, we may share email addresses in hashed form with these platforms so they can match them to existing accounts. This allows us to show relevant content to people who already know us, to avoid showing donation appeals to people who have already given, and to reach new audiences with similar interests. Hashing means the address is converted into a coded value before it is sent; the platforms are permitted to use this information only to provide the advertising service to us and are not permitted to use it for their own purposes.

We also use advertising and analytics technologies on our Website, including the Meta Pixel, Google tags and Google Analytics, and equivalent tags from the other platforms listed above. These technologies may record pages you visit and actions you take on the Website, and may be used to measure the effectiveness of our advertising and to build advertising audiences.

We do not share phone numbers, text-message opt-in data, or data from any messaging platform with advertising platforms for any purpose. Email addresses and website activity are the only categories of information we use for advertising.

To opt out of the use of your information for advertising, contact connect@gcom.world. You may also manage advertising preferences directly through your account settings on each platform, and manage cookies and tracking through your browser settings.

Cookies and Tracking Technologies‍ ‍

We use cookies and similar technologies for functionality, analytics, performance, and advertising. You can manage your preferences through your browser settings, and you can opt out of Google Analytics through Google's opt-out browser add-on. Disabling cookies may affect the functionality of parts of the Website.
